The Orchard

The Orchard was a piece designed by William Morris in 1890, In researching the political nature of Morris’ work I came accross ‘The Orchard’ a tapestry documenting four figures holding a piece of Morris poetry, what struck me is the similarities to the Trade Union banner, and it’s cousin the Placard, it was through this motif that I started to experiment with how you can convert placard langauge to poetry, and how can the two worlds start to intermingle.
