My project is an exploration of the blurring lines between technology and material reality. Online environments and platforms have stimulated technological advancements which allows users to alter their visual identity such as the creation of digital avatars. An avatar becomes a virtual representation of a person's identity and a visual medium used for communication.
The creation of personal avatars is a method free from the limits of our physical genetic flesh. However, digital life is a mix of physical and electronic connections. Digital networks are embedded with biases that exist in physical systems, and what happens in the digital sphere has consequences in the material world. I utilise avatars as a medium to investigate social conventions in relation to technologically-mediated bodies.
