Conversation became an important method for interacting with and sharing heritage. Making, sharing and discussing food fostered unique and in depth conversations between family members and friends — discussing things like food eaten as children, relationships to food, the origin of family dishes and food traditions. Each conversation was recorded and transcribed. This book, An Act of Sharing, records making and sharing Welsh Cakes with my Mum. It contained a lot of off-shoot recipes which deepened my understanding of my cultural and culinary identity.
